Design A Day Spa

Cozy day spa room

A day spa is a wonderful location for anyone to go relax and rejuvenate will pampering themselves or finding relief for muscle aches and built up stress and tension. Designing a day spa is relatively simple, as long as it provides an accommodating and cozy atmosphere for all customers. Giving off a good impression is very important for first-time guests, since they provide word of mouth advertising to friends and family.

Instructions

1. Begin by painting the day spa with neutral and inviting colors. Great colors for a day spa include sage green, taupe, brown, lavender or any of the Earth tones. Paint the waiting area with an inviting color, and it can either be a light or dark shade depending on the ambiance that is desired. Other rooms of the day spa can be painted in dark colors to give the rooms a more tranquil and peaceful setting.

2. Add window treatments to all the windows. In the waiting area, wispy curtains can give the area plenty of natural light which makes it more inviting to guests. If the windows of the spa look out onto undesirable locations like a parking lot or other business, use a heavier curtain or wood blind to block the view but still allow light to come inside. Inside the treatment rooms if there are windows, a heavier curtain needs to be used to block out sunlight for the guests.

3. Pick out cozy chairs or small couch for guests to sit when they are waiting for their appointment. Wicker chairs with a seat pillow are great for a day spa, since they are relaxing and add to the ambiance of the room. Provide magazines and tranquil music to the guest so that they can begin to relax the minute they enter the spa. Day spas that use antique or weathered wood as furniture look quaint, and can make it seem relaxing rather than stuffy.

4. Set up massage tables in rooms for massage, body wraps or scrubs, and set up a massage bed for the facial room. Beds should be covered with a sheet and a light down comforter for guest to use while getting a massage. Facial rooms should also be equipped with a sheet and light blanket so that guests can stay warm will getting a treatment.

5. Provide lighting in the waiting room with a soft glow, so that guests can begin to relax but still see the magazine they are reading. Rooms should be lit with candles or sconces on the wall during a treatments, but an overhead light can work when the rooms are being cleaned and prepared for the next guest.

6. Add accessories around the day spa like dried lavender, sage, and aromatherapy candles. You can also provide guests with slippers and a robe to change into while they are waiting for their appointment. Make sure that each room has its appropriate tools for the treatments including massage oils, body scrubs, foot baths and sprays for massage rooms and masks, toner, lotions and gels for the facial room.
