Remove An Ant From The Ear Canal

Your ear is no place for an ant.

The procedure to remove an ant from your ear canal should be completed by a physician, however you can relieve yourself of some of the discomfort until the insect is removed. The removal instructions are for a doctor only.

Instructions

1. Lay the patient on her side with the problem ear up. This will allow for easy access to the patient's ear and allows for the correct flow of fluids to the patient's ear canal.

2. Pour mineral oil into the ear, filling the ear canal. This will kill the ant through suffocation and lessen the discomfort of the patient.

3. Insert the point of the suction tip into the ear canal.

4. Squeeze the suction tip to seize the ant with suction. This is safer than using the alligator forceps, but might not work as well.

5. If the suction method doesn't work, use the alligator forceps to remove the ant. Alligator forceps are able to pick up small, soft objects such as ants.
