The IAT (intake air temperature) sensor on the 2007 Nissan Altima is part of the MAF (mass-air flow) sensor. Both of these sensors are vital to your Altima's engine management system. They work to ensure that your Altima runs efficiently. If you experience rough idling in your Altima, one of the common causes is a bad IAT/MAF sensor. Replacing the sensor is as simple as disconnecting the wiring, removing the screws, then attaching the new sensor. However, you'll need to learn find the IAT/MAF sensor in your Altima's engine compartment before you can do that.
Instructions
1. Shut down the 2007 Altima's engine. Open the hood and inspect the engine.
2. Locate the air filter box. On 2007 Altimas equipped with the V6 engine, the air filter box is on the driver's side of the engine compartment in the very back. On four-cylinder models, it is on the driver's side of the engine compartment about midway between the firewall and the radiator. The air filter box is a black box with a hose coming from it.
3. Inspect the air filter box. Near the clamps on the back half of the box, you'll find the MAF/IAT sensor. It is a small electric device with two screws securing it to the air filter box.
