Inject Radiesse

Radiesse is an injectable filler than can be used as a treatment to combat facial wasting and to give added volume to specific areas of the face. It can also be used to hide wrinkles and scars. Radiesse is made up of a series of very small spheres that, when injected, will cause connective tissue to form around them, filling in space. Radiesse can only be obtained by a licensed cosmetic surgeon and should never be self-administered or be injected by someone who hasn't been professionally trained.

Instructions

1. Explain to your cosmetic surgeon what areas you would like to have injected. Your surgeon will be able to tell you what kind of results you can expect from injections in those areas, and will then be able to mark the sites for injection.

2. Receive the actual injection. For this, your cosmetic surgeon will stick a thin needle in the subdermal area of your face (this is the area just below the actual skin level but above the facial muscles). The best strategy is for your surgeon to inject a small amount to begin with, as it is easier to achieve a "natural" look with smaller volumes of Radiesse injected.

3. Wait for the swelling to subside. This will generally happen within 48 hours and will cause any pain or discomfort to go away.

4. Have a followup visit two weeks after your initial injection. At this point you will be able to see the effects of Radiesse and your surgeon can recommend additional injections to further sculpt your face. Alternately, if you are happy with the results, you can opt to not have any additional injections.

5. Visit your cosmetic surgeon every three months for touch-up injections and to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment. Radiesse generally will work for two to three years, but occasional touch-ups will often be required.
