Signs Of Schizophrenia In Children







Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness that affects the way a person feels, behaves, perceives reality and interacts with others. People with schizophrenia typically have trouble interacting in the world around them and functioning at school or work. Symptoms typically appear between the ages of 15 and 35, although it does sometimes manifest in younger children. Schizophrenia symptoms are different in children than in adults.


Moodiness


Children who suddenly become more moody can be displaying an early sign of schizophrenia.








Distinguishing Reality


Having trouble distinguishing dreams or TV shows and movies from reality can be a sign of schizophrenia in children.


Anxiety


Severe fearfulness and anxiety can be an early sign of schizophrenia in youngsters.


Delusions


Seeing things that are not real and hearing voices is a sign of schizophrenia in kids.


Confusion


Confusion or difficulty thinking can be a sign of schizophrenia in kids.


Childishness


Children who behave younger than they are may be exhibiting a sign of schizophrenia.
