Make Your Own Reed Diffuser Solution

Save money by making your own reed diffuser solution.

Reed diffusers are an eco-friendly alternative to aerosol air-fresheners. Scented oil is put in a jar, then willow or rattan reeds are placed in the oil. The oil transfers up the reed to release fragrance into the room. But the oil in the reed diffuser will not stay scented forever, so it will need to be replaced once it loses its scent. Instead of spending money buying reed diffuser oil, make your own solution right at home.

Instructions

1. Fill the jar or vase three-quarters full with jojoba oil or vegetable oil. These are carrier oils to which fragrance will be added.

2. Add 1 tbsp. of pure vodka. Swirl the jar around gently to mix the oil and vodka together.

3. Add 12 to 16 drops of your favorite essential oil. Choose whatever scent you like. Experiment with combining different oils to create a customized scent for your preference.

4. Swirl the jar again to mix up all the ingredients.
