Benefit From Cumin Seed
Cumin seed is a popular kitchen spice, but is also an age-old natural medicine. But that's not all, as you can also use cumin seeds as a nutritional supplement or home remedy for many common ailments.
Instructions
1. Keep cumin in your kitchen spice rack and use it in soups, salads, stews or to flavor meat. Not only do cumin seeds taste great, they are rich in antioxidants and have shown to have anti-cancer properties. There is evidence that the daily consumption of cumin seeds greatly reduces incidence of liver and stomach cancer.
2. Benefit from your favorite spice in other ways as well. Cumin seeds are thought to slightly increase metabolism while improving the absorption of vitamins and minerals. Cumin seeds also stimulate the production of enzymes which help the body to break down protein, fat, sugar and starch and help the liver to flush toxins from the body. In addition to other full-system benefits, cumin seeds boost the immune system and protect you from common contagious illnesses.
3. Drink tea made from cumin seeds to ease digestive disorders, as it helps to reduce gas, soothe indigestion, ease diarrhea and even calm nausea and morning sickness. To make tea, add 1 tsp. cumin seeds to 1 cup boiling water and reduce to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cover for 10 minutes before drinking.
4. Make cumin seed tea and drink two or three times a day to help calm the symptoms of a cold or respiratory disorders as well. Cumin helps to reduce a fever, calm a cough and fight infection which causes a cold.
5. Apply cumin seeds to the skin to help heal boils, soothe insect bites and prevent infection in minor wounds. Prepare a paste by crushing the seeds with a mortar and pestle, adding just enough water for a smooth consistency. Apply directly to the affected areas and allow to dry.
