Msm & Hair Growth

Taking MSM daily results in longer, stronger, shinier hair.

Your hair is primarily composed of sulfur and protein (keratin). Adding more sulfur to your body with supplements like Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), is a healthy, safe way to increase hair growth.

Definition

MSM is organic sulfur, found naturally in every plant and animal cell and in all of your body's living tissues. MSM is a food, easily absorbed by your body. (Ref. 1.)

Expert Insight

According to a study at Oregon Health Sciences University, all study participants experienced increased hair growth after six weeks while taking MSM. (Ref. 2.)

Benefits

As sulfur, MSM stimulates your scalp's circulation, which nourishes your hair follicles. Sulfur is also called "the beauty mineral," because you need sulfur to keep hair beautiful and glossy. (Ref. 1.)

Dosage

To increase your hair's strength, shine and growth, take MSM supplements daily with Vitamin C. There isn't an established RDA for MSM, since it's considered safe. But a common dosage is 1,000 to 3,000 mg daily, in capsules, tablets or powder. Drink extra water when taking MSM.

(See Reference 1)

Warning

Consider taking MSM if you're vegan or vegetarian, since your diet may result in a sulfur deficiency. (Ref. 1.)
