Heal A Headache

Headaches can occur for a wide variety of reasons, such as tension, sinus problems, and stress. If you experience chronic or intense headaches, you should see a doctor because they may be due to an underlying issue. In most instances, headaches can be easily treated using a range of home treatments. With some simple help, you can effectively heal a headache, relieving the pain associated with it.

Instructions

1. Take over-the-counter painkillers. Acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen can all be used to heal headaches. Make sure to follow the particular painkiller's instructions regarding dosage amounts.

2. Drink water. Headaches are often due to dehydration. Drink at least 8 ounces of water at the first sign of a headache. Drink 64 ounces of water daily to keep headaches at bay.

3. Place a cool compress on your head. Wrap an ice pack in a soft towel or soak a washcloth in cold water and apply it to your head. The cold temperature will help to reduce swelling in your sinus cavities which may have caused your headache. It will also help to alleviate pain.

4. Massage your temples. Use firm pressure and circular motions to gently massage your head. This action can relieve pressure on your head and lessen pain, helping to heal your headache. If you can, ask a friend to massage your head for more complete coverage.

5. Try aromatherapy. Various essential oils, such as peppermint and lavender oils, promote muscle relaxation and are commonly used to treat headaches. You can find essential oils in most holistic stores.

6. Rest. You may experience a headache due to a lack of sleep. Close your eyes and attempt to sleep. Even if you are unable to fall asleep, simply resting may be enough to heal your headache.

7. Consume caffeine. Caffeine can help to heal headaches. Drink a cup of coffee, tea, or other caffeinated beverage. Some over-the-counter headache medications contain caffeine.
