Types of Acupuncture
There are two types of acupuncture to cure different ailments. First type is using herbs, which the Japanese treat for arthritis and diarrhea. Second type is called cupping, usually made of bamboo cups, used to treat asthma, bronchitis, low back pain. A common way to create a vacuum or suction is to burn paper inside the cup and then placed upside down on the skin's surface on certain pressure points for what is being treated.

Acupuncture Warnings
Cupping is considered safe but should not be used on people who have rashes, bleed easily or have a high fever. There is no pain but you will feel the cup being pulled on your sin. Cupping does not use needles and therefore there is no need for injury or infection. Needles should be sterile, disposable, nontoxic and labeled for use of qualified acupuncturists only. Each patient should receive a new disposable set of needles and wiped with alcohol before applying treatment.
