Use A Pregnancy Calendar

A pregnancy calendar charts the development of your baby from conception to birth. It also provides helpful information to guide you through your pregnancy. Pregnancy calendars are especially useful for those who have never been pregnant before as it lets you know what to expect at each stage of your pregnancy and may include information about diet, exercise and dealing with unpleasant symptoms. There are several different types of calendars to choose from, including an online version that is becoming quite popular.

Instructions

1. Choose the type of calendar you want to use. The traditional wall or desk calendars give important details and information about the progress of your pregnancy. These calendars provide a space for you to record important facts and special notes unique to your pregnancy; these may be fun to share with the baby later. Electronic pregnancy calendars are available online and are usually free. You'll be asked to register by giving your email address, then you'll be given access to your own personalized pregnancy calendar. You'll receive emails periodically, usually each week, giving you information about the development of your baby.

2. Determine your due date and record it on your calendar. The doctor will usually give you the due date on your first visit with him or after the first ultrasound. If you haven't been given a due date, you can calculate 40 weeks from the day you started your last period. However, this method is usually not as accurate as using the ultrasound to determine the due date.

3. Calculate how far along you are in your pregnancy. Once your due date is established, you can determine what stage of development your baby is in. The rate at which a fetus develops is fairly consistent, so you'll have a good idea of what your baby looks like, how big it is and what parts of the body are developing during each stage of pregnancy.

4. Use your pregnancy calendar as a reference in detecting any abnormalities in your pregnancy. Everyone's pregnancy is different, but there are certain symptoms that almost everyone experiences. A pregnancy calendar gives details and information about what is normal and what is cause for alarm.
