Use A Hearing Aid

A hearing aid is an electronic device that is placed inside the ear and amplifies sound, so the user may hear better. Hearing aids can be confusing to use and can cause ear damage if used incorrectly.

Instructions

1. Take the back battery cover off your hearing aid and check that there is a battery installed. If there is no battery, take your hearing aid to a store that sells batteries and purchase the right size of battery for your hearing aid. Install the battery and put the cover back on the hearing aid.

2. Tap the "Power" button on your hearing aid to turn it on. On most hearing aids a light will come on, indicating that the hearing aid is turned on. You may hear some feedback in your hearing aid. Turn the volume down on the hearing aid by rotating the volume knob counter clockwise. This will ensure that you will not insert your hearing aid while there is feedback.

3. Insert the hearing aid. This is done by putting it slowly into your ear with the gain facing downward. It needs to be done very carefully as not to damage the hearing aid or your ear. Be careful not to damage the gain, as it may have an impact upon the feedback and your ultimate hearing in the end.

4. Adjust the volume by using the volume control wheel. You can turn this clockwise to increase the volume and counter clockwise to decrease the volume.

5. Slide the hearing aid out of your ear at night, before you go to sleep and any time you do not need to have it in your ear. Push the "Power" button to turn off the hearing aid and to conserve the battery power.
