Use Acupressure For Back Pain

Acupressure has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. More often than not, traditional Chinese medicine believes in natural healing and the shifting of energy throughout the body to relieve pain. Only recently has Western culture begun looking into acupressure. Although there are professionals all over the country that specialize in acupressure and acupuncture, Western society is still relatively clueless. Pressure is applied to various points on the body. When stimulated, these points stimulate coordinating organs and muscles that may not be even remotely near the original source of pain. Back pain, for example, is one of the most common patient complaints. Did you know there are certain acupressure points you can work on to alleviate back pain that are no where near the back? This article will help you use the acupressure technique to ease your own back pain.

Instructions

1. Find a comfortable spot on the floor and lay down on your back. Lift your legs up in the air and bend your knees. The acupressure points you will be working on are called B 54. They are located behind your knees.

2. Line your fingertips of each hand with the corresponding crease at the knee joint. Your palms will be faced upwards with your fingers slightly curled toward the ceiling.

3. Keep your fingers in this location and slowly shift your legs forward and backward. This should put pressure and relief on the B 54 acupressure point. Continue doing this for about 2 minutes.

4. Release your arms and hands out to the side, resting on the floor after you are done with your leg shifting. Keep your back on the floor, your knees bent, and place your feet flat on the floor. For another 2 minutes, remain in this position in a relaxed state.

5. Repeat the steps of this acupressure technique when you wake in the morning, after lunch, and right before you go to bed at night. The idea is to alter the energy traveling to and from your back and eliminate the pain.
