At Home Remedies For Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a medical condition that causes painful legs. The leg pain typically increases when a person is resting or at nighttime. The pain in the legs can sometimes cause insomnia in many people. There are a lot of home remedies you can try to relieve the pain of RLS.

Some Simple Home Treatments

According to the Restless Leg Syndrome Association, this condition is caused by not enough Vitamin B6 and iron. Try taking magnesium and potassium to help with this problem. You may also want to drink a bottle of Gatorade before you go to bed.

Some people with this condition have bought a tiny mini-trampoline which they jump on daily for about 10 minutes. They have found that this relieves some of their symptoms.

Try drinking tonic water. The quinine that is found in tonic water has been shown to alleviate some symptoms of restless leg syndrome.

Take a single aspirin and you may find that it calms your restless legs, usually within an hour.

Place a bar of soap under the sheets at the foot of your bed. Some people have sworn that this method works for them.

Try getting up and walking. This may calm your legs enough to get to sleep.

Cut out your consumption of caffeine to see if that helps your condition.

Try taking a warm bath before bed as this may have a calming effect. You can also try stretching your legs before you go to sleep.

If you find that none of these methods are working, you may want to visit your doctor and be placed on some prescription medicines that may help with the pain. As always, go immediately to your doctor if the symptoms become worse.
