Identify Signs Of Depression

Everyone experiences good and bad times in life. If you find yourself feeling down for a few weeks or more and you’re having a hard time functioning in your daily life, you might be suffering from depression. There are signs that you can look for to help determine if you might be depressed. Depression is a mental illnesses. Illnesses can be treated!

1. Pay attention to any changes in your weight or appetite. Some people with depression lose their appetite and also lose weight while others may have an increased appetite and put on weight. If you notice any changes in your body weight or appetite accompanied by your persistent sad mood, this can be a sign of depression.


2. Take notice if you’re losing interest in activities you once enjoyed. Many people suffering from depression find that they lose interest in hobbies, friends, family, and other things that liked to do. Maybe you feel as if you no longer have the strength to do these things or you just don’t care about them anymore.


3. Identify any feelings of hopelessness, sadness, being tired all the time, restlessness, guilt, worthlessness, any body aches or pains, feeling worried, or crying without a clear reason. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms for a couple of weeks or more and they seem to be getting worse, you should see a professional to seek treatment.








4. Record any changes in sleep patterns such as sleeping too much or not being able to sleep at all. Depression may be the reason for these changes in your sleep pattern.


5. Tell someone if you’re having thoughts of suicide. Depression can lead to suicidal thoughts and feelings. If you’re having thoughts of suicide, you need to seek help immediately.


6. Get a reality check on indulgences. Abusing drugs or alcohol or engaging in promiscuous sexual behavior can be a sign of depression. Some people turn to drugs, alcohol, or sex to try to numb the pain they are feeling. These behaviors can make the problem worse by leading to addiction or even death. If you’re depending on any of these things in an attempt to cope with your depression, recognize that this behavior will not help you and seek professional help immediately.
