Make Braces Look Less Noticeable

Braces have come a long way since they were large metal contraptions that couldn't be ignored. Today they are smaller. They come in different colors. They are even available in materials other than the bright silver metal of yesteryear. People who need braces to straighten their teeth are often self-conscious about wearing them. They needn't be, though. If they choose the right braces, and remember some important tips, they can make braces look less noticeable.

Instructions

1. Choose braces that are clear or a color that closely matches your teeth. You can even opt to have lingual braces put on your teeth. These are attached to the back instead of the front so they can't be seen at all.

2. Brush, or at least rinse your mouth, to remove food particles stuck in your braces. Check your mouth in a mirror after every time you eat a meal or a snack. Remove any particles you may find. Even if you wear clear braces, food particles can draw attention to them and make them obvious.

3. Act natural to make braces look less noticeable. Don't pull your top lip down to try to cover them. Don't try to keep your mouth closed when you're around others. Don't cover your mouth with your hands when you speak. The more you try to cover braces, the more people will notice them.

4. Wear light-colored lipsticks and sheer glosses that don't draw as much attention to your mouth and braces. Avoid red colors that accent and draw attention to your mouth. Don't wear black or dark lipsticks either, because they'll have the same effect. Don't wear lip liner at all.
