Make A Stripping Shampoo

Learn make an all-natural stripping shampoo for extra dirty hair.

Instructions

1. Heat 3/4 cup of filtered or distilled water to just above room temperature. Pour it into a large bowl that can be used for mixing. Pour 1/2 cup of child- and animal-friendly organic shampoo and pour it slowly into the bowl. Stir the solution slowly, making sure not to create a lather or inspire any bubbling.

2. Slowly sprinkle 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of sea salt into the solution, stirring while you do so. Then pour in 2 teaspoons of jojoba oil. Pour in the salt and oil seperately, and stir in between. Finish off by pouring in 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint essential oil. You can also add a teaspoon of lemon juice for extra power and scent, or vinegar for excessively dirty hair.

3. Once you have mixed the solution thoroughly and it has a consistent color and texture, pour the contents of the bowl into a glass or plastic bottle that has a securable lid or cap. Make sure the top is secured tightly, then shake the bottle several times vigorously.

4. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place, such as a refrigerator. If you are storing it in a refrigerator, make sure that its temperature is not too low as to get frost on the top of the shampoo. In a refrigerator you can store the shampoo for up to three weeks, but after that it should be discarded because it can acquire mold spores. If you are storing it in a warmer, moist place, such as a bathroom, make sure to only keep it in use for one to two weeks.

5. When using the shampoo, make sure to fully wet your hair before applying. Use 2 to 4 teaspoons in your hair, scrubbing thoroughly for 3 to 5 minutes. Once you have rinsed your hair thoroughly, use conditioner because the stripping shampoo can make hair strands coarse. You can use your standard shampoo afterwards to give an extra clean to your scalp.
