By having your hair loss classified, you can better choose what type of products will work for you, since certain products work for certain types of hair loss more so than others. Women should use the Ludwig Scale to classify their hair loss.








3. Talk to a friend who is also dealing with hair loss. Sometimes, you'll be able to gauge whether or not certain products on the market actually work by talking to people you know who have used them. Many people shy away from discussing their hair loss, but having an open discussion can really keep people informed on the best products available.


4. Research the product before you ever invest a dime. Most hair-loss treatments--even the ones that don't work--are fairly expensive. By doing research on a given product you can save a whole lot of money as well as set your expectations on how well a product will work.


5. Stick with the FDA. To ensure that a product actually works, it is highly recommended that you stick with those products approved by the FDA to treat hair loss. Currently, there are only three: minoxidil, Propecia and the LaserComb.
