Detoxify Procedures

Detoxification is essential in restoring a healthy balance in your body. Gaiam Life's website states that if you're suffering from fatigue, acne or digestive problems, detox is needed because "Detoxification is about resting, cleaning and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health."

Eating More Vegetables

Detox Guide's website reports that not only do vegetables provide substantial nutritional value, they also "feed our detoxification organs in performing at their optimum." They explain that vegetables such as broccoli, kale, bok choy and cabbage contain the antioxidant gluthathione, which the liver uses to "transform fat-soluble toxins like chemicals and heavy metals into water-soluble substances for excretion."

Bikram Yoga

Bikram yoga is a 90-minute class that is practiced in a room which is heated to 105 degrees. The purpose of this high temperature is to warm up your muscles, enabling you to perform bikram yoga's twenty-six postures and two breathing exercises as well as producing high amounts of sweat. According to Bikram Yoga NYC's website, bikram yoga gives your body numerous benefits such as increasing circulation, relieving indigestion and improving kidney function among other things. The Pranayama Breathing standing position, in particular, promotes detoxification.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue is a massage method that focuses on releasing tension and lactic acid buildup in the muscles. According to Mama's Health's website, "a deep tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, releases toxins from muscles and gets blood and oxygen circulating properly. Massage therapists encourage you to drink plenty of water after treatment so you will flush the toxins out of your system.

Epsom Salt Bath

Taking an Epsom salt bath is relaxing and beneficial to your health. The Epsom Salt Council states that its magnesium and sulfate properties aid in flushing toxins, improving nutrient absorption, improving oxygen use and reducing inflammation in the muscles, among other benefits. It is recommended to add two cups of Epsom Salt to warm water.
