Use Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy refers to the use of pure essential oils to enhance physical and mental well-being. Using aromatherapy may be helpful in treating a condition, whether prescription or over-the-counter drugs are being used or not.
Aromatherapy works through your sense of smell. Inhaling particular essential oils has been associated with creating an emotional response through the release of chemicals in the brain. For example, lavender oil has the ability to increase the release of the feel-good chemical serotonin, which has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Essential oils should be added by the drop to carrier oil, which include almond, apricot, grapeseed, jojoba and olive oils. Depending on the purpose, water may be used instead of carrier oil.

Common Essential Oils and Their Uses
Lavender oil may be the most widely-recognized essential oil. It is used for acne, burns, eczema, sleep disorders and stress. Its calming properties help ease depression and reduce inflammation.
Peppermint oil is helpful in relieving headaches, congestion, sinus problems and muscle soreness. Having antiseptic and mental stimulating properties, a peppermint oil bath may help clear the head and refresh the mind.
Rosemary oil is increases circulation. It is helpful for cellulite, dandruff, sore muscles and headache. A rosemary hair rinse, applied after shampooing and conditioning, is a great way to add shine to your hair. However, if you have asthma, bronchitis or epilepsy, using rosemary oil is not recommended.
Tea tree oil has properties that fight infection, inflammation, fungus and parasites. It is effective against dandruff, athlete's foot, insect bites and bronchial congestion. It can be diluted and used in a douche to treat yeast infections in women. Tea tree oil may be applied directly to the affected area of the skin.
Ylang ylang oil is known for its aphrodisiac properties. It also produces a calming effect, which may lift mood and ease anxiety and stress. Using ylang ylang oil through aromatherapy helps normalize the heartbeat and lower blood pressure.
Caution
Do not use essential oils near the eyes. Wash your hands after coming in direct contact with them. Be cautious about using essential oils if you are pregnant. If using essential oils on children, use half the amount of essential oil that is recommended for an adult.
