Identify Symptoms Of Myocarditis

Myocarditis is the medical term that defines inflammation of the heart muscle, known as the myocardium. The condition may eventually lead to a reduction in heart function, and is usually caused by complications from illnesses. While there is no specific cure for mycarditis, treating symptoms offers those afflicted with the condition better quality of life and a reduction of complications. Myocarditis may afflict males and females, though middle-aged men are more likely to develop the condition than others. Inflammation of any muscle may lead to other medical conditions, so understanding and learning identify the symptoms of myocarditis may help to prevent additional damage or complications.

Instructions

1. Experiencing a sense of fatigue is one of the most common signs of a heart condition. The fatigue may be mild or moderate, but it is felt for more than a day or two at a time.

2. Breathing may be difficult at times. Many individuals experience shortness of breath with even a minimal amount of physical activity. This symptom may be felt with minor chest pain or discomfort.

3. Sensing an irregular heartbeat leads many individuals to seek a visit with their family doctor. This may be experienced as a 'skipping' sensation, or a few fast beats at a time, or a 'racing' heart on occasion.

4. Aching muscles, fever and an overall feeling of lethargy are common. Initial symptoms may often feel like those experienced with flu, but they don't go away.

5. Swelling feet or ankles, distended neck veins, a rapid heartbeat when resting and difficulty breathing may indicate a more severe form of myocarditis that leads to congestive heart failure.
