Amethyst has many therapeutic uses.
Humans have used stones for natural healing for thousands of years. Different stones provide a varied range of benefits and amethyst has long been thought to have many healing properties. The Romans used amethyst to protect against intoxication and the name comes from the Ancient Greek "amethystus," which means, "not intoxicated." The Ancient Egyptians wore the stone to guard against deception and witchcraft and Catholic Bishops still wear it as a symbol of purity and piety. It also is called the "Pope Stone" and comes in a range of colors, including light violet, dark purple, light green and almost clear white.
Dreams
To aid in the recollection of dreams, you can put a large stone by your bedside. Hold the stone in your hands before going to sleep and meditate on recalling your dreams. Repeat this nightly for several weeks and it may help you have more vivid dreams. To help this process, also use a journal to record your dreams, which will encourage your brain to recollect them.
Protection
Amethyst has long been considered a stone that aids in spiritual and mental protection. It is best worn on a bracelet or as a necklace. If you are a psychic practitioner, wearing amethyst can aid in the development of telepathy, clairaudience, clairvoyance and protect against psychic attacks. It also helps with overcoming addiction or protecting against it.
Spiritual Insight
Spiritual healers and shamans have used amethyst to gain insight into spiritual problems during meditation since the earliest beginnings of human civilization. It helps to focus the healing energy of reiki, give clarity during intense meditation and energize the brow and crown chakras. To gain the maximum potency of amethyst during meditation healing sessions, you should wear more than one stone and also use large (hand-sized) clusters that have been warmed in the sun during the day.
