Find A Doctor Of Osteopathy

Osteopathic physicians, or D.O.s as you may see them listed, are doctors with special medical training. Like other M.D.s they receive the traditional four-year medical training, but then receive additional education focusing on the musculo-skeletal system and perform what is known as osteopathic manipulation treatment (OMT). OMT is an age-old treatment using gentle manipulation of the patient's body, which in many cases can allow for healing to take place within the body without the use of drugs and surgery. The Osteopathic Philosophy states that the "body has an inherent ability to heal itself" and it's this philosophy that osteopathic doctors heed as they help to remove barriers to healing and support the patient's body in healing itself.
