Gain Weight While Cleansing

Cleansing is done normally to lose weight but it can also help you gain weight if you are a performance athlete or are underweight.

Cleansing means detoxifying each individual internal organ over a period of time. Doing so allows the body to more efficiently digest food, absorb nutrients and eliminate waste.

To gain weight while cleansing, take two weeks to cleanse first before changing your diet to gain weight.

You can still eat food while cleansing: simply avoid heavy animal protein, fried foods, caffeine, and refined flour and sugar.

See your doctor if you have any serious medical conditions.

Instructions

1. Begin by cleansing for two weeks. Use herbs such as senna or cascara sagrada to detoxify the colon and also consume herbal teas that contain yellow dock root, dandelion leaves and other other herbs to cleanse the other internal organs.

There are several prepared commercial cleansing products in tablet form or detox teas. You can also select individual herbs and prepare teas.

2. Undergo this directed cleanse for two weeks by reducing the intake of animal protein, refined sugar, white flour and boosting your intake of whole grains, whole vegetables and fruits to assist the cleansing process.

Keep a food diary from the first day of your cleanse, recording what herbs and detox teas you have chosen to take for your two-week cleanse.

Do not be too rigid: if you forget to drink your detox teas or take the cleansing products, just resume when you do remember.

3. Complete the two weeks of cleansing by noticing if you are able to have at least one if not two or three bowel movements a day. If this is not the case, continue the cleanse for another week up to 8 weeks until you do have regular daily bowel movements.

4. Gain weight gradually by slowly adding back in low-fat proteins such as legumes, eggs, low-fat dairy products and lean cuts of beef and poultry. Remove all visible fat and broil and steam rather than fry foods.

Boost oils such as olive, flax seed and consume fish at least three times a week. This will increase your omega-3 and omega-6 levels from the flax and fish oils and help you gain weight.

5. Snack on nutrient-dense calories such as unsalted nuts and hard-boiled eggs. Eating low-fat yogurt between meals or protein drinks made with no sugar can also help you slowly gain weight.

The idea is to eat about every two hours while you remain physically active in a way that is appropriate for you. If you are an athlete or very active, this will not be difficult as you are already burning calories.

Ideally you are including resistance training which will also help gain weight by building lean muscle mass. Muscles weigh more than fat and over three to six months, you should see a noticeable difference.
