Head lice are most commonly found on children.
According to the National Institutes of Health, tea tree oil has been used to remedy a wide range of ailments, from athlete's foot to acne, ringworm to fungal infections. Tea tree oil has not been proven to eradicate head lice, but its properties have been proven to kill bacteria and infections and to reduce allergic skin reactions. The Centers for Disease Control recommends using a combination of over-the-counter or prescription medication with a nit comb to treat a head lice infestation, but you can also try alternative methods such as using tea tree oil.
Instructions
1. Combine the essential oils and the olive oil, and massage the mixture through the hair and into the scalp. Leave the oils in the hair overnight, using a towel over your pillow.
2. Comb the hair with a nit comb. Between each stroke, rinse the comb with hot vinegar.
3. Repeat this process for five consecutive nights. After one week, repeat the process once to eliminate any remaining lice.
