Clean Memory Foam Pillows

Unlike regular foam that can be soaked and left to dry in the air, the dense makeup of memory foam is such that it does not dry out quite so easily. This can result in the growth of bacteria in your pillows leading to skin problems and other illnesses. Taking special care to clean and dry your memory foam pillows correctly will keep them fresh, odor-free and safe.

Instructions

1. Vacuum the pillows thoroughly to get rid of dust and small particles.

2. Fill your spray bottle with a cup of water and a 1/4 cup of detergent. With the nozzle in place, shake the bottle up to ensure the contents are thoroughly mixed.

3. Spray all over the pillows. While you need to ensure that you spray every part of each pillow, try to avoid soaking it. You're only trying to clean the surface.

4. Leave the pillows for about 30 minutes. This will give the enzymes in the detergent plenty of time to get to work. The bath or shower stall is a good place to leave them. While you're waiting, clean out your spray bottle and fill it with fresh water.

5. Dry the pillows as much as possible with a towel. This is just to get as much of the excess detergent off as possible, so don't worry if they still feel a little damp.

6. Spray the pillows with fresh water and dry with a clean towel. Do this as many times as you feel is necessary to ensure that all of the detergent is removed.

7. Place the pillows approximately two feet away from the fan heater on its lowest setting. Check the pillows frequently to ensure that they are not getting too hot as this could result in damage to the pillows or even fire.

8. Leave in an airing cupboard or any warm, dry place for another two or three days before using again.
