Make A Breath Freshener

Peppermint candies are served after meals at many restaurants as breath fresheners.

Breath fresheners are delicious, refreshing ways to cleanse your palate. They can be used in the mornings, before going to bed, or in between meals. Breath fresheners cover up bad breath and some even work to eliminate odor-causing bacteria. Breath fresheners can come in a variety of flavors. Peppermint is a classic flavor, but when you make your own breath fresheners, you can create them in any flavor you'd like. Mouth wash and homemade breath mints are two types of breath fresheners you can make at home.

Instructions

Mouthwash

1. Mix 2-3 ounces of baking soda in a bowl with one teaspoon of peppermint oil.

2. Stir in two teaspoons of tea tree oil.

3. Stir in one cup of water.

4. Pour mixture into jar. The mixture is good for at least a month when stored out of sunlight. Use as desired.

Mints

5. Mix 6 cups of sugar, 3 cups of cold water, salt and peppermint oil to taste in a large pan. Start with a teaspoon of peppermint oil and adjust to desired intensity.

6. Stir constantly until sugar crystals dissolve. Stop stirring and bring to a boil.

7. Add cream of tartar and keep boiling until temperature reaches crack level (300 degrees Fahrenheit) on the thermometer.

8. Pour minty mixture into a baking sheet and leave to cool. Be sure baking sheet has sides to keep liquid mixture from flowing over.

9. Break mint bark into pieces once cooled. Store in a airtight container lined with wax paper.
