Natural Herbal Detox Tea

In 1992, the Environmental Protection Agency randomly tested 7,000 Americans for chemicals in their systems. Approximately 71 percent of these had traces of common wood preservative. In light of this study, many doctors who work with chronically fatigued patients say that chemical exposure may contribute to lowered vitality. One of the key concepts of Eastern Medicine is that energy can be restored by removing toxins from the body through a system of regular detoxification.

Detoxification Tea


There are many detoxification diets to choose from. Some, like the popular Master Cleanse, require the person undergoing the cleanse to go on a liquid diet for a minimum of 10 days. Others, like the raw-foods diet, advocate eating only uncooked fruits and vegetables for two to five days. By contrast, proponents of detoxification tea say that it is comparatively easier to undergo, partially because less effort is involved.


Ingredients


Common ingredients in detoxification tea are similar to those in other cleanses such as the Master Cleanse and raw-foods diets. This is because many of these herbs and natural food items are thought to be generally beneficial for cleansing the body's systems. Many of them, such as cayenne pepper and garlic, have been used in homeopathic and holistic medical treatments as well as rural home remedies for hundreds of years. Some common ingredients in herbal teas include organic lemons, garlic and cayenne pepper. To brew a detoxification tea, mix 1 cup of boiling water with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper. This brew should be taken three times a day to cleanse the system. As the blood cleanses, the concoction can be consumed as seldom as once a day.
