What Are The Benefits Of Dabur Chyawanprash

Gooseberry fruit is also known as amla fruit.

Dabur Chyawanprash is a popular brand of an Ayurvedic herbal preparation marketed in India as an energizer, rejuvenator and immunity supplement. Ayurvedic medicine is a traditional form of Indian medicine that combines many different herbs and fruits in an effort to bring balance to the body. Keep in mind that before taking any supplement, Ayurvedic or otherwise, you should consult your doctor to ensure that it is right for you.

Lowers Cholesterol

A 2001 New Dehli study showed that Chyawanprash, when combined with a dose of vitamin C, was effective in lowering cholesterol levels much more than vitamin C alone. This is in part due to the fruit amla, which is high in vitamin C and pectin. Since the herbal formula consists primarily of amla fruit, it can be used as a spread on bread or added to a glass of milk.

Removes Toxins

Dabur Chyawanprash was shown to aid the body in removing chemicals in a study conducted at Kurukshetra University in 2003. The study showed that the herbal formula prevented the genotoxic effect of smoking. This anti-oxidant property may be a result of the high vitamin C count in the amla fruit but it may result from some of the other herbs in the formula. According to the Favor Finesse website, a study showed that a group of smokers improved in health over the course of several months. The herbal formula relieved symptoms such as excessive phlegm, breathlessness and cough.

Improves Mood

A Barana Hindu University study in 1991 showed that Chyawanprash helped some depressive patients to improve their general mood and reduce general complaining. This benefit may occur because of the herb Ashwagandha, which can reduce stress and improve the general functioning of the body. Another herb in the formula, Guduchi, can help to strengthen mental functions.

Other Claims

There are other claims about the benefits of Dabur Chyawanprash that have not been backed up by scientific research. The herbal formula may improve digestion and relieve constipation. Chyawanprash has been claimed to improve memory and reduce symptoms of aging like graying hair. The spread may reduce menstrual problems, improve the strength of the heart, fight infections and improve the complexion. Other claims include healthy hair and nail growth, improvement of eyesight and inducement of normal blood sugar levels.
