Bleeding under the skin is a medical condition that can be the result of a number of minor injuries as well as serious conditions including many types of diseases. The cause of bleeding under the skin is not always easy to diagnose.
Instructions
1. Consider any serious diseases or conditions you may have such as, leukemia, meningococcal, liver or autoimmune diseases that may cause the bleeding under the skin.
2. Note any bleeding, clotting or low platelet count disorders to determine bleeding under the skin.
3. Access any recent injuries that may have caused bruising and bleeding under the skin. Typically, the bruise will develop when the blood vessels under the skin tear or break. This normally happens from a fall or by bumping your body into an object like a table. Blood leaks into tissues under the skin causing the bleeding and the back and blue color. Most bruising is not a cause for concern.
4. Identify any blood spots under the skin. These are flat, very small, red or purple spots in the skin.
5. Look for signs of blood under your finger or toenails. They are usually a brown, black or purple discoloration that does not grow out due to an injury.
6. See your physician for a professional opinion. The cause of the bleeding under the skin will determine the recommended treatment.
