Replace The Batteries In A Liftmaster Garage Door Opener

Garage door batteries will typically last up to five years before they wear out. Once the battery starts to wear down, you'll find yourself pressing your garage door opener button several times before the garage door responds. Fortunately, replacing the battery in your LiftMaster remote is fairly easy and requires nothing more than a replacement battery and something to pry it apart. If you find that your garage door isn't opening like it should, begin your troubleshooting process by replacing the battery.

Instructions

1. Remove the garage door opener from your car's visor and remove the metal visor clip.

2. Identify the seam in between the top and bottom halves of the opener. Insert the end of the visor clip into the seam and pry the two halves apart to separate. Alternately, you can use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry them apart.

3. Remove the old lithium battery from the opener.

4. Install the new battery into the opener. Be sure to install the battery properly with the positive (+) side up.

5. Press the two halves of the garage door opener together until they snap into place.

6. Dispose of the battery properly. Follow your local ordinances when disposing of hazardous waste.
