Children who receive movie tickets as a gift are likely to welcome the change from the traditional toys and games that they normally receive. When giving movie tickets as a gift, presentation of the tickets is key. Rather than handing over tickets in an envelope or card, be creative and come up with some special gift giving ideas.
Movie Theme
If there is a particular movie that you know the child would like to go see, present the movie tickets along with other items hat are the theme of the movie itself. for movies that are popular with small children, look for stuffed animals, dolls or action figures of characters from the movie. Try to locate a movie poster or framed print with the characters from the film. Include a soundtrack CD from the movie.
Candy Basket
Make a gift basket that includes all of the standard candies that are sold at movie theaters. Search online candy manufacturers or local retailers to find large, individual boxes of the candies. Stock up and add them to the basket, along with the movie tickets. Even if the child can not bring the candy into the movie theater (depending on the theater policy), he will enjoy the sweet treat at home and look forward to his day at the movies.
Night at the Movies
Fill a large container with items associated with going to the movies. Include a large bag of buttered popcorn or a few bags of microwaveable popcorn and a large popcorn bowl. Add some of the child's favorite soda and a few bags of popular movie candies. Check out your local dollar store for novelty items such as a movie clapper (the directors tool that is used to number takes) or some large Hollywood-style glasses.
Movie Day Gift Cards
Put together a small basket filled with gift cards that can be used for having a movie day. In place of paper movie tickets, purchase a movie gift card to cover the amount of the tickets. Find a kid-friendly restaurant that is located near the movie theater and pick up a gift card so the child can have a bite to eat before the movie. Look for a nearby ice cream parlor or bakery and purchase a gift card for her to top the day off with a sweet treat after the movie.
