Replace The Headlight In A Mazda 6 Car

Replace the Headlight in a Mazda 6 Car

The headlights in the Mazda 6 are composite assemblies that use a halogen bulb installed into the rear of the headlight assembly. The halogen bulbs should be changed as a pair when you notice one has stopped working or if one is much dimmer than the other. Replacement halogen bulbs for your Mazda 6 are available through the Mazda dealer or at most auto parts stores.

Instructions

1. Ensure the headlight switch is in the off position then open the hood of your Mazda 6. Locate the headlight bulb on the backside of the headlight assembly.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the base of the headlight bulb by pressing the locking tab in and pulling the connector straight down. Lay the wiring harness connector aside for now.

3. Grasp the bulb at the base with your hand and rotate it counterclockwise until it is free from the headlight assembly. Pull the bulb straight out of the assembly and discard it.

4. Position the new bulb into the back of the headlight assembly, being sure not to touch the glass portion of the bulb. Turn the bulb clockwise, locking it in place, then push the electrical connector onto the base of the bulb until the locking tab engages.

5. Move to the opposite headlight and repeat the process to change the second bulb. Turn the headlight switch on and verify the headlights are functioning as intended.
