Loosen Plastic Bathroom Faucet Connecters

A faucet is connected to the home's water supply via water supply hoses. There is one hose for the hot water and one for the cold water. The hoses have fittings on both ends. One fitting connects to the shutoff valves, or directly to the water line, and the other fitting connects to the bottom of the faucet stems. On some hoses, the connectors are made of plastic; you must remove them carefully to avoid cracking.

Instructions

1. Access the faucet connector under the sink and position yourself to work comfortably on the connector.

2. Spray the faucet connector with a liberal amount of a penetrating catalyst. Ensure that you spray the catalyst into the thread area of the connector where it attaches to the faucet stem. Allow the catalyst to soak into the connector for 10 minutes.

3. Place an old rag over the connector to provide it with protection from direct contact with the jaws of the pliers.

4. Grasp the connector with a pair of slip-joint pliers firmly, but not excessively tight. Turn the connector counterclockwise until it is loose enough to remove it the rest of the way by hand.
