Place Cards Ideas For Christmas

Small wrapped gifts make wonderful place cards and party favors.

Hosting a Christmas party can be a lot of fun, but a good amount of work usually comes beforehand. Make your planning a little easier this year by making simple but beautiful place card holders. These do not take a lot of time and will look stunning on your table. The place card holders not only make nice decorations, they also help your guests find their seats.

Gift Boxes

Nothing shows the fun holiday spirit more than presents. Wrap up a few for your table to not only show guests where to sit, but also to use as favors. Purchase a small gift item for each guest. The items can all either all be the same or personalized for each person. Wrap the gifts up nicely in matching paper that coordinates with the table centerpiece and decorations. Attach a bow and small gift tag with each person's name. Set the gifts on top of or beside each place setting.

Tiny Trees

Christmas trees are symbol of the holiday, so set paper place card trees along each side of your table settings. Cut out two tree shapes from green paper -- you will need two for each tree. Cut a slit in one paper tree from the bottom to up near the top, but do not cut through the top of the tree. In the other, cut the same length slit, but start at the top of the tree and go almost to the bottom. Slide the two trees together along the slits; you should now have a three-dimensional tree that stands on its own. Cut out a star shape from yellow paper and glue it to the top of the tree. Decorate the tree if you wish, or simply write guests' names on the stars.

Pears

This pear place card holder works well if you are going for a natural Christmas feel or are decorating to match The 12 Days of Christmas song. Place a pear on each plate on the table. Write each guest's name on a small piece of paper or card stock. Push a straight pin through the paper and into the top of the pear. This place card holder is simple, yet elegant. It looks very nice if you have a centerpiece that incorporates pears, as well.

Ornaments

Purchase a selection of ornaments from the store They can be either plain ornaments that you decorate yourself, or ornaments that are tree-ready. If you buy ornaments to decorate, make sure you allow enough time for any glue or paint to dry before the dinner party. Write each guest's name on a small piece of paper then attach it to the hanger on the ornament. Lay an ornament on or near each place setting, making sure the names face out. It is ok if the ornaments fall on their sides a little bit.
