There are a variety of novel ways to create your own palm tree fronds.
Few people are lucky enough to have palm trees growing in their own yard. However, that shouldn't stop you from creating your own palm trees to give your home a tropical vibe or to decorate for a special party or celebration. Start by making artificial palm tree fronds to create your own palm trees in a variety of novel ways.
Feathers
Feathers are suitable to use to make medium to tiny palm tree fronds. Use medium- to large-sized feathers to create palm tree fronds for a palm tree the size of a houseplant; use smaller feathers to create smaller palm trees the size of a diorama or miniature house. You simply cut the feathers so that the resemble palm tree fronds and then paint them the right shade of green, For an even more realistic look, paint the fronts slightly tan or bronze on the edges.
Fabric and Wire
Creating your own palm tree fronds out of fabric and wire truly gives you complete freedom to make the fronds whatever size you'd like them to be. Shape long and short pieces of wire into the skeleton of a palm tree frond; do this by cutting the wire into the right size pieces and wrapping the pieces of wire around each other. The fabric goes over the wire in one of two ways: cut a piece of fabric that is the same area as your wire skeleton and glue it on top, or wrap a long skinny piece of fabric over and around each section of the wire skeleton.
Colored Cardboard or Balloons
Cutting green cardboard into the desired shape is a basic way to make a palm tree frond when you're in a hurry and you need it for a project where the palm tree doesn't have to look terribly realistic. You can make the palm tree fronds as big or as small as you would like and even paint them to give them a more realistic color and texture. Alternatively, for a more festive palm tree, create fronds out of skinny green balloons. While these fronds will only be evocative of the real thing, they'll still be quite festive.
