1. Cover the ceiling with gossamer. Hang the material in pieces to create a whimsical look or cover the ceiling completely with a canopy look. Not every venue can accommodate these decorations. Check with your reception site to make sure there are places to tie the gossamer so there's no risk of it falling during your reception.
2. Hang twinkling white lights from the ceiling. Use strands of Christmas lights to create this look. These twinkling lights will create a romantic and mystical feel for your wedding reception.
3. Make paper snowflakes and hang them from the ceiling, if you're having a winter wedding. Your guests will feel like they've just walked into a winter wonderland. Cover the entire ceiling with these snowflakes because just hanging a few will look tacky. Make the snowflakes with shiny paper and glitter to create an elegant effect.
4. Use floral pomanders to decorate the ceiling. Add rhinestones or pearls to the floral pomanders to create a more elegant feel. Hang them with fishing line to make them look like they're floating in the air, or use ribbon in your wedding colors. This will give your wedding reception a beautiful, botanical look.
